In September the NSD held a conference with the participation of Russian registrars and custodians dedicated to the results of the Corporate Actions Reform 2016. Aleksandra Barysheva, Head of Corporate Actions of GSS Russia, took part in the conference.
Several proposals, the most significant of which are listed below, were made at the conference by custodians and registrars:
- the CSD to become an official distribution source of non-public companies’ corporate information. At present, the CSD acts as the golden source of information with respect to public companies;
- the agenda of General shareholders meeting (GM) to be translated by the issuers from Russian into English;
- to extend deadlines for submitting the disclosure of information and instructions on participation in general meetings of shareholders for custodians until the GM date. The information due date is currently two days before the GM;
- to develop a unique format of information exchange between custodians and registrars.
