Tuesday, 20 August 2013 will be a national holiday and Monday, 19 August 2013 a bridge holiday in Hungary. Saturday, 24 August 2013 has been chosen as an extra-working day for the Hungarian Central Clearing House and Depository Ltd. (KELER), the KELER Central Counterparty Ltd. (KELER CCP), banks, while the Budapest Stock Exchange (BSE), BÉTa MTF and MTS Hungary will be closed for trading on Saturday.

Please note that effective 2 January 2012, MTS Hungary is the main market for Hungarian government bonds and this market follows the same holiday calendar as the BSE. Settlement cycle for fixed income securities on both BSE and MTS Hungary is T+2, while equities settle on a T+3 basis. OTC settlement usually follows stock exchange cycle, however the parties may agree on a different settlement date bilaterally.

On Saturday, 24 August 2013 the banks, KELER and the KELER CCP will be open, UniCredit Bank Hungary and both KELER and the KELER CCP will operate with shortened deadlines. Free of payment securities transfers will be processed between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. CET, whereas versus payment transactions can be settled between 8:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. CET in KELER. As a result, UniCredit Bank Hungary will accept client instructions for guaranteed same day settlement on this day until 2:00 p.m. CET in case of free transactions and by 1:30 p.m. CET for versus payment settlement.

Trading on the BSE or on the MTS will not be possible on the extra working days either. KELER will not clear stock exchange and MTS transactions these days. 

On 19, 20 August 2013 all banks, KELER, KELER CCP, MTS Hungary and BSE will be closed.

 

Impact on investors: 19 August and 20 August 2013 will be non-working days in Hungary, with all participants: banks, KELER, KELER CCP and the BSE closed. 24 August 2013 will be extra-working days, when OTC settlement is possible, however the BSE and the MTS are closed.
