The new BVB CEO presents his strategy to increase the market volume and to achieve the emerging market status for Romania.

Appointed for a term of four years by the Board of Governors in December 2017 as CEO of the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB), Adrian Tanase made his first public declaration, after the Romanian Financial Authority approved his nomination.

According to the new BVB CEO, a number of measures will support stock exchange development so that Romania will be promoted to emerging market status. Among them are market infrastructure development, financial education, the set-up of a central counterparty clearing house (CCP) and the introduction of short selling activities as well as a derivatives market.

Mr. Tanase intends make the Bucharest Stock Exchange reach its maximum potential in terms of turnover through new listings, an improved market access for investors, both local or foreign, and an emphasis on opportunities to trade “investment ideas”. He also plans to position the BVB as an alternative source of corporate financing.
