National Settlement Depository (NSD), the Russian CSD, and the information agency Interfax, the authorized agency for disclosure of information, have officially started to provide access to “Reference United Data” (RU DATA), a unique database containing all available information on Russian issuers and financial instruments. The information in this database passes through a complex process of data verification and has a high level of information reliability and validity.

The verification process at RU DATA involves initial verification by Interfax of corporate actions information provided by the issuers, followed by NSD`s GoldenSource Enterprise Data Management System verification of the information flows from various sources (issuers, registrars, Central Bank of Russia and Interfax), and is completed by the final data verification by Interfax before its distribution to clients.

Technical support for the RU DATA database and access provisions are also covered by Interfax.  The NSD, in performing its CSD functions maintains a record-keeping system of all CA related information on securities serviced by NSD via official distribution channels.  The RU DATA database also contains disclosed information by issuers via the authorized agencies’ system and includes information on securities which are not admitted for servicing by NSD. It is anticipated that - once established – the NSD’s Corporate Action Center will enable RU DATA to collect and distribute data directly received by NSD from issuers and registrars.

The technological capabilities of the system provide RU DATA information on real time basis in a variety of formats and combinations.

Impact on investors: Investors will benefit from the enhancement of providing and processing corporate information, decreasing operational process risks, and reduction of expenses.
