NSD introduces Aliases in the Settlement Process

AO UniCredit Bank
Summary:
The National Settlement Depository will start using short identifiers (aliases) in the settlement process on the Russian securities market.
Thu, 06/08/2015

Starting from 10 August 2015 NSD clients will be able to indicate 8-digit numbers, i.e. aliases, as an alternative to the current 30-digit numbers (custody account / sub-account with NSD) in their settlement instructions sent to NSD. At the same time, clients may continue using the 30-digit numbers and there is no restriction preventing one of the counterparties in a settlement instruction from indicating the alias, while the other one uses the full account number.

NSD intends to publish the aliases on its website and to update the database on a daily basis.

AO UniCredit Bank will support the service provided by NSD and will accept settlement instructions with the short alias identifiers.

We would like to ask all our clients to please contact your Relationship Manager in UniCredit GSS Russia in order to receive the form of Standard Settlement Instructions with aliases, which may be used as an alternative to the Standard Settlement Instructions with full 30-digit account numbers.

Impact on investors:  The use of aliases will allow for simplification of the settlement process and decrease in operational risk.
