This regulation determines the following:
- Minimum requirements for a brokerage firm’s liquidity risk management;
- methodology for the calculation of the liquidity ratio;
- minimum permissible liquidity levels;
- reporting requirements and timelines;
- reporting requirements and timelines regarding a brokerage firm's inability to perform due to monetary obligations.
The changes entered into force on 21 May 2016 and will be effective within 60 days.
Impact on investors: The new regulation will increase solvency requirements of brokerage firms, which will reduce counterparty risk.
