Azerbaijan: Securities market turnover increased by 19%

Fri, 17/04/2015

The Baku Stock Exchange (BSE) announced that its total turnover of all transactions in January-February 2015 stood at AZN 3.8 billion and increased more than 19% compared to the same period last year.

The volume of the state securities market reached AZN 14.9 million (decreased by 50%) and the turnover of the corporate securities market totalled AZN 512.28 million (6.2 times decrease).

The greatest share of the securities market turnover was in derivative trading. The volume of the derivatives market amounted to AZN 3.3 billion. BSE had successfully implemented derivative trading on a commodity basis on 21 July 2014. This novelty allows investors to buy and sell securities and financial instruments purchased from a broker under special conditions due to a temporary trading limit.

Furthermore, BSE plans to launch share trading in 2015.
