Croatia: IMF and EBRD expect Croatia's economy to grow by 0.5% in 2015

Wed, 03/06/2015

According to the Concluding Statement of the International Monetary Fund, Croatia's economy is projected to grow for the first time in seven years; expected GDP growth rate is 0.5%. As far as projections are concerned, the IMF projects real growth of about 1.5% to 2% in subsequent years.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) predicts that the Croatian economy will also grow 0.5% this year, reaffirming its earlier projection, and such modest growth is expected to continue in 2016 due to the lack of large-scale reforms and pressure for fiscal consolidation.

The European Commission slightly raised the forecast of Croatia's economic growth for this year compared to the previous forecasts, from 0.2% to 0.3%, and from 1% to 1.2% for 2016.
