Croatia: Modest growth projection for Croatia

Mon, 11/05/2015

Croatia’s GDP expected to grow after a prolonged period of recession. In line with the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) spring economic outlook, Croatia’s economy may improve by 0.5% in 2015 and up to 1% in 2016.

The IMF considerably changed its 2015 inflation forecast for Croatia. It now expects consumer prices in Croatia to fall by 0.9% in 2015, while in its autumn outlook it projected their modest increase of 0.2%. Consumer prices should again rise in 2016 by 0.9%.

Croatia's unemployment rate for 2015 was raised from the 17.1% projected in October 2014 to 17.3%; in 2016 it is expected to slide back to 16.9%. The IMF reaffirmed its forecast for Croatia's current account surplus of 2.2% of GDP for this year and its slight reduction to 2% in 2016.
