Bosnia and Herzegovina submitted its application for membership in the European Union in Brussels in February.
Presidency Chairman Dragan Covic formally handed over the application to Bert Koenders, the foreign minister of the Netherlands, which currently holds the EU’s rotating presidency, at an event also attended by EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini and Commissioner for European Neighbourhood Policy Johannes Hahn.
Submitting the EU membership application is a huge step forward in the process of accelerating reforms and of European integration. In order to submit a credible application, Bosnia and Herzegovina was required to take several important measures.
This represents a clear signal to potential investors that Bosnia and Herzegovina is going forward in EU integration making the capital market more attractive and their investments more secure.
