Good Friday designated as Public Holiday

Today, 7 March 2017, the draft amendment on designating Good Friday a public holiday in Hungary has been passed by the Hungarian Parliament and is now subject to being signed by the President and promulgated in the Official Gazette. Once complete, Easter will become a four-day holiday period, starting already from 2017.

Impact on investors: Good Friday will be a public holiday in Hungary from 2017 onwards. On public holidays banks, the CSD, the Stock Exchange and the payment system are all closed and no clearing and settlements can take place.
