Moscow Exchange launches trading of foreign securities

Moscow Exchange announced that trading of foreign securities would be launched on 24 August 2020. The first list of foreign securities which would become available for trading (20 US stocks from the S&P 500 index) was published on the Moscow Exchange web-site. It is expected that around Q4 2020 the list will be expanded to 50 ISINs; after that new foreign securities may be added depending on the investors’ demand.

Foreign stocks will be traded in RUB with the CCP and settled via the Russian Central Securities Depository (NSD). Income (dividends) will be allocated in the original currency distributed by the issuer. 

Impact on investors:  Moscow Exchange expands the variety of instruments available for trading.
