DTT with Kazakhstan - Update

Serbia and Kazakhstan have notified each other in writing, through diplomatic channels, that the procedures required by their domestic laws for the entry into force of the Double Tax Treaty between the two countries have been complied with.

The DTT, which was adopted by the Serbian Parliament in December 2015, has now entered into force as of 1 January 2017.  

The DTT rates are applicable to any income paid after 1 January 2017, irrespective of when the income was accrued. Investors from Kazakhstan that intend to avail of these DTT rates are obliged to provide Certificate of Tax Residence issued for the current year.

Impact on investors: The DTT between Serbia and Kazakhstan  is expected to create a more favourable tax environment for eligible investors.
