Romania: BNR decreased the monetary policy rate to new record-low

Wed, 03/06/2015

The Board of the National Bank of Romania (BNR) decided to drop the monetary policy rate again, to 1.75% per annum from 2.00% as of 7 May 2015.

The NBR Board has decided to narrow the symmetrical corridor of interest rates on the NBR’s standing facilities around the policy rate to ±1.5 percentage points from ±1.75 percentage points. Thus, the interest rate on the NBR’s lending facility (Lombard) will be lowered to an annual 3.25%, while the deposit facility rate will remain at 0.25% per annum.
