Romania: Romanian government confirms commitment to the listing programme

Wed, 03/06/2015

The Romanian Government reaffirmed its support of the capital market by promoting further privatisation through the capital market. It approved the creation of a working force, tasking the Ministry of Finance and the Financial Supervisory Authority (ASF) to manage the coordination of the listing programme  of top national companies.

Analysis of the current state portfolio revealed the existence of three categories of national companies that can become subjects of the programme:

- majority state-owned companies and non-privatised (eg. Hidroelectrica, Port of Constanta, Bucharest Airports, Salrom)

- privatised companies, in which the state has minority stake, but not listed (eg. Telekom, Enel, E.ON)

- companies with state participation, minority or majority, and already listed, where the free-float share may be increased (eg. Romgaz, Nuclearelectrica, Petrom).
