In November 2020, Bulgarian Stock Exchange (BSE) joined the United Nations’ Sustainable Stock Exchanges Initiative (UN SSE), a UN Partnership Program whose mission is to provide a global platform for exploring how exchanges can enhance performance on environmental, social and corporate governance issues (ESG), as well as to encourage sustainable investment, including the financing of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The UN SSE, in collaboration with investors, companies (issuers), regulators, policymakers and relevant international organizations, seeks to achieve its mission through an integrated program for conducting evidence-based policy analysis, facilitating a network for stakeholders, and providing technical assistance and advisory.

With this move, the BSE joined a group of more than 90 stock exchanges in the world and pledges to fulfil the goals of prioritizing the topics of sustainable finance and energy at the highest level among decision-makers on the local market; becoming the most important and unifying contributor to the topics of sustainable finance and energy in Bulgaria and sharing the world’s best practices and know-how in the area of sustainable finance and energy with all participants on the Bulgarian capital and energy markets.

Towards achieving these goals, BSE receives consulting from the European Investment Advisory Hub at the European Investment Bank (EIB) and, in particular, from EIB’s partner for Bulgaria.
