GSS Newsletter December 2023 - Issue 225

DECEMBER 2023 - ISSUE 225

Dear Clients, Partners, and Friends,

2023 seems to have flown by in the blink of an eye. Reflecting, it’s easy to see why.

UniCredit Global Securities Services has undergone a monumental transformation with its new system implementation, keeping us all very busy. But with hard work comes great rewards and, in this respect, I cannot truly convey in words the immense pride I have in each of our teams, both within GSS and the Group, who have all played such a pivotal role in assuring the successful completion of this multi-year project. It is truly a massive achievement that should be celebrated internally and externally, and it paves the way to assuring our ability to continue providing “boutique” services with full flexibility and adaptability for future demands. No matter the challenge, we now have the best resources and are fully equipped to meet all expectations, and, with this, we go into 2024 and beyond with the greatest of confidence. In this Newsletter, you will find a dedicated article summarizing the path to this success and the benefits it will bring to all of us.

2023 also saw a momentum increase in office presence, travel, and face-to-face meetings, a welcome development following several years of restrictive measures. I think we can all agree that, while there will always remain a certain advantage of having a mix of remote and office working solutions, nothing could ever substitute the effectiveness of meeting in person, whether it be the social interaction and productivity of having co-workers in the office together, to the relationship-enhancing ability of seeing all of our friends and clients at conferences, on-site or in the accompaniment of due diligence visits. For us at the Global Securities Services, the year started with a highly successful continuation of our London Roadshow, which we were pleased to see many of our clients attended. ISSA Symposium and The Network Forum are both great opportunities to meet industry experts, share views on the latest developments in our industry, and accelerate the change we all need in our industry, so we can be more efficient going forward. And all of it comes with great networking potential. Most recently, I also had the pleasure of attending SIBOS where, again, the meetings only reinforced the value gained in meeting in person. After so many years of virtual distancing, it truly is great to see normality largely resumed.

Lastly, I want to also extend my gratitude to all of you for once again having supported our selection by Global Finance as the Best Sub-Custodian in CEE for the 14th year in a row. While these awards were announced in the Summer, for me and the entire GSS family, this is a constant reminder and, above all else, a motivating factor that proves that everything we do is worth the effort. Again, a heartfelt “thank you” to everyone involved.

As we enter the holiday season, I would like to conclude my address by extending warm wishes to you and all your loved ones. May 2024 bring you good health and a lot of success.
