GSS Newsletter June 2023 - Issue 223

JUNE 2023 - ISSUE 223

Dear Clients, Partners, and Friends,

It gives me great pleasure to have this opportunity to address you in the latest edition of the GSS Newsletter. Many of you I have recently met during the London Roadshow or past events and meetings, but, for those who don’t know me yet, I head our Group Correspondent Banking team out of our headquarters in Milan. I have been in this function since 2020, having previously headed GTB Americas and, in total, have been with UniCredit now for over 12 years.

During this time, I have had many opportunities to collaborate, not only with you, but internally across multiple business lines, and, bearing this in mind, I can find no better time than now to express how well this collaborative approach, fundamental for UniCredit, has showcased its beneficial values, especially when working with GSS. As our industry responsibilities continue to see more and more consolidation, we see even more opportunities to explore mutual growth across multiple levels. UniCredit prides itself in being a „one-stop-shop” for Central and Eastern Europe access and, working together with GSS, we have the ability to address your needs in these geographies both for securities and payments. These two areas have always gone hand in hand and, as such, we have an ever-increasing opportunity to streamline our efforts on both sides of the relationships, adding benefit through both volume and reduced complexity.

It is in this respect that I remain optimistic and encouraged that there are still great opportunities for our firms to seek even more collaboration and celebrate success together. I very much look forward to future discussions in which we can cement what these opportunities might be, for you and for us. As true partners, we believe that success can only be realized if, at first, our partners are successful themselves.

In this edition of the Newsletter, you will have the opportunity to read about varying aspects of expertise our GSS team brings which, as mentioned, was recently re-affirmed by an excellent Roadshow in London, where many of our partners enjoyed a full day of insightful and thought-provoking presentations. This expertise and dedication to service have also been recently underlined by Global Finance, where, for the 14th consecutive year, GSS was named the best Sub-Custodian in our home region. This, in addition to the multiple individual country awards received, is a true testament that our GSS approach will always be the „best” approach.

In conclusion, I would like to personally thank all of you for having helped pave the way toward this recognition which is fundamentally due to your unwavering trust and loyalty. I am proud to have this opportunity to attach myself to this success and to continue down the road of collaboration, with GSS and you.

Massimo Ortino

Head of Group Correspondent Banking
